- Providing accurate stump location, size, access, and site information
- Ensuring gates are unlocked and access is clear

Underground Utilities, Private Lines, and Hidden Objects
Stump grinding can involve contact with soil, roots, and underground or hidden materials. The customer is responsible for identifying, marking, and disclosing all underground utilities, private lines, hidden objects, and site hazards before work begins.
Public utility locates may not identify private systems or customer-owned lines, including irrigation systems, landscape lighting, invisible dog fences, private gas lines, drainage pipes, pool lines, septic components, low-voltage wiring, or other buried items.
Sander Land Services is not responsible for damage to undisclosed, unmarked, incorrectly marked, hidden, private, or customer-owned underground items.
If we encounter rocks, metal, concrete, wire, fencing material, masonry, utilities, buried debris, or other hazards, we may stop work, modify the work, revise the price, or decline to continue.
Property Conditions and Normal Site Impact
The customer understands that stump grinding is mechanical work and may cause normal site disturbance, including:
- Wood chips and sawdust
- Soil disruption
- Minor lawn impressions
- Track or wheel marks
- Disturbed mulch or garden areas
- Surface disruption near the stump

Sander Land Services will take reasonable care while performing services. However, we are not responsible for damage caused by:
- Hidden or undisclosed objects

Our responsibility, if any, is limited to direct damage caused by our proven negligence and does not include indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, lost profits, loss of use, delay costs, or third-party claims, except where such limitation is not permitted by law.
Depth of Grinding
Grinding depth depends on the quote, site conditions, stump condition, machine access, and intended use of the area.
Unless deeper grinding is specifically included in the written quote, stump grinding is intended to remove the visible stump and grind below grade to a practical depth for general yard restoration, mulch, soil, grass seed, sod, or landscaping.
Deeper grinding for fencing, deck work, construction, replanting, hardscaping, or other special purposes must be discussed and included in the quote before work begins.
Wood Chips and Cleanup
Stump grinding produces wood chips, sawdust, and soil mix.
Wood chips may be:
- Left on site
- Raked into the stump hole or surrounding area
- Piled nearby
- Cleaned up as part of the service
- Removed from site if specifically included in the quote
Unless cleanup or removal is included in writing, wood chips and grindings may be left on site. Full restoration, topsoil, grass seed, sod, landscaping, disposal, or hauling is not included unless specifically stated in the quote.
Photos and Marketing Use
The customer authorizes Sander Land Services to take photos and videos of the stump, work area, equipment, access path, and completed work for documentation, quality control, training, marketing, website, social media, advertising, and portfolio purposes.
We will make reasonable efforts not to publish identifying personal information, house numbers, licence plates, people, children, or private details without permission.
Customers may request that photos of their property not be used for marketing. Such requests should be made in writing before the work begins.
Contractor, Subcontractor, and Commercial Work
Sander Land Services may provide stump grinding services for landscapers, arborists, tree companies, fence installers, deck builders, property managers, contractors, and commercial clients.

- The contractor or commercial client is responsible for obtaining permission from the property owner or end customer
- The contractor or commercial client is responsible for confirming site access and work scope
- The contractor or commercial client is responsible for payment to Sander Land Services
- Payment is not conditional on the contractor being paid by its own customer
- The contractor or commercial client is responsible for disclosing hazards, utilities, private lines, access restrictions, and site conditions
- Sander Land Services is not responsible for disputes between the contractor and its customer
If Sander Land Services is asked to work under or alongside another contractor, our role and responsibilities are limited to the stump grinding services we agree to provide.
Safety
Sander Land Services may refuse, suspend, or stop work at any time if we believe conditions are unsafe.
Customers, property owners, tenants, pets, children, workers, and bystanders must remain clear of the work area and equipment. The customer is responsible for ensuring that other persons on the property comply with safety instructions.
